Self-Direction Puts the Client in the Driver’s Seat
Services that put the client in control of supports for daily life
Self-Directed Services and the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program let the client design their own support plan, hire and manage staff, and shape services around their goals and preferences.
- Create personalized support plans and daily routines
- Hire, train, and supervise personal assistants
- Receive help with budgeting, payroll, and benefits
- Flexible care and community-based supports
- Live independently with dignity and choice
Self-Direction gives individuals the freedom to design supports that match their goals, preferences, and daily life. Participants can create personalized plans, hire and manage their own staff, and receive assistance with budgeting and administrative tasks. This approach provides the guidance and flexibility needed to live independently at home or in the community, empowering each person to build a meaningful, self-directed life.
The Consumer-Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) allows individuals who qualify for home care to choose their own personal assistant — including a trusted friend or family member (excluding spouses).
As a CDPAP facilitator, we guide people and families through enrollment, paperwork, caregiver onboarding, and program requirements. We provide ongoing support to ensure services run smoothly while the individual remains in control of who provides their care and how it is delivered.
