Stress happens. Sometimes unavoidable; at times unbearable. To bring about awareness of different ways to manage stress at work, Access: Supports for Living PROS (Personalized Recovery Oriented Services) programs facilitated activities in April to build comradery, show appreciation and increase daily mindfulness. In support of Mental Health Awareness Month, the PROS team has shared their Best Practices and Activities to YOU, our community.
Mindfulness and Gratitude Week: During this week, the PROS staff took time to purposefully pay attention and be aware of their surroundings, emotions and thoughts as an important way to manage stress. Being mindful and grateful of your surroundings and of the people who you are with strengthens a person’s ability to manage stress on a daily basis.
Smells Like Team Spirit Week: Working together to build unity, morale, trust and appreciate one another is a powerful way to manage stress at work and truly appreciate your co-workers. The PROS teams at Access participated in the following special days to bring about comradery and unity among team members.
- Green Day- Wear as much green as you can to bring light to Stress Awareness Month.
- Mindful Munchies- Eat a healthy lunch together!!!
- Team Walk- Take a walk and talk together
- Gimme Five- Usually we’re asking for five more minutes but this day is a day to give each other a high fives.
- Song Birds of a Feather- Karaoke with co-workers
- Favorite Sports Team Day
- Decade Day
Say it with Kindness Week:
During this week, PROS teams took time to stop and let each other know how much they appreciate and care about each other. Appreciation at work helps to increase morale and unity. PROS teams did this through creating personalized jars with the team member’s names on them. During the week, they acknowledged how they appreciate one another by writing anonymous notes and dropping them in their respective personalized jars.
PROS programs wrapped up a successful Stress Awareness Month, with a Sweets Week filled with tasty treats and surprises.
It starts with Leadership. Team Leaders who facilitate the PROS Program Development Workgroup, Melody Weldon and Kristy Champignon came up with these fun and engaging activities for staff to increase awareness about managing their stress in the workplace.
